ABC’s Bachelorette filming with Exposure in Vancouver

The sun was setting as Exposure Travel guide-operated “chase boats” swiftly circled a classic wooden vessel in sparkling waters off Vancouver’s coast. Camera crews zoomed in to film a Hollywood hottie sipping a champagne cocktail on the bow. Was CSI: Miami on location?

Well, not quite. But the west coast city got some welcome exposure after the BC’s own Jillian Harris, a lovely 29-year-old brunette, became the newest star of the hit ABC reality show The Bachelorette in early 2009.

To show off Jillian’s hometown, ABC chose to film an episode of the hit reality TV show highlighting a vibrant mix of adventure and luxury. Working with Tourism Vancouver to manage this TV shoot, Exposure Travel provided a dream venue and all the trappings of an authentic west coast lifestyle.

Private expedition yacht used in filming the Bachelorette

It was “Anchor’s away!” for a sunset cruise of Vancouver Harbour aboard a luxury excursion yacht. This lovingly restored vessel, formerly owned by the U.S. military, sparkles with history and opulence. Onboard, champagne “sundowner” cocktails were served as the boat left the Vancouver dock.

The city’s scenic backdrop gave the film crew plenty to look at, from the dark-green forests and popular beaches of Stanley Park, ringed by the pedestrian sea wall, to the historic Lions Gate Bridge. Lights were just starting to twinkle on the snow-capped North Shore mountains beyond.

This successful TV shoot also included a guided excursion to catch Dungeness crabs and a private chef to serve fresh west coast crab for dinner. Exposure Travel consulted on the program and handled all of the logistics on a tight timeline. Both Tourism Vancouver and ABC were delighted with the results, which “exposed” BC and its very own bachelorette in high style.

Positive exposure for Hollywood North

“At the last minute, one of our locations fell through and Tourism Vancouver needed a stunning location and ‘West Coast’ activities set up for a film shoot we were involved with. Nick, Cory and Laura from Exposure worked within our budget to create an incredible experience for us to film aboard a luxury yacht The team was ‘film savvy’ and handled all the details, including working directly with the directors and producers to ensure we got all the angles we needed. The results wouldn’t have been nearly as good without them.”
